Joseph WESCOTT was my first cousin five times removed; grandson of my fifth great grandparents William PRESCOTT and his wife Margaret HANEY.  Joseph was born 13 July 1813, son of Archibald and Nancy (LIMBURNER) WESCOTT.  Joseph married Caroline H. (Carrie) BROWN 14 September 1839 in Blue Hill, Hancock County, Maine.  They had four children:  Ellen C. (Nellie), George P., Caroline B (Carrie) and Harriet B (Hattie).  Joseph was enumerated in seven censuses; two in Penobscot, Hancock County, three in Blue Hill, Hancock County, and two in Portland, Cumberland County.[1]  In all censuses upon his majority he was listed as a merchant; in 1869 he was listed as working (owning) Joseph Wescott & Son, located at 64 Commercial [Street], dealing in granite.[2]  He died 20 Jun 1883 of paralysis in Portland, Cumberland County, Maine.[3]
