Captain Solomon Jordan

Solomon was born 15 July 1778 to Ebenezer and Lucy (TARBOX) JORDAN, in Trenton, Hancock County, Maine.[1]  He appeared in the 1810, 1820, 1830 and 1840 censuses taken in Ellsworth, Hancock County, Maine.[2]  He married Elizabeth (Betsey) Townsend TREWORGY, on 7 September 1803.[3]  Betsey was the daughter of Spencer and Judith (Townsend) TREWORGY.  Solomon and Betsey had the following children:  Spencer Treworgy JORDAN, Solomon JORDAN, Jr., Elizabeth (Betsey) JORDAN [she died before the age of 4], Nathaniel Treworgy JORDAN, Elizabeth (Betsey) Townsend JORDAN, Daniel T. JORDAN, Zachariah Jellison JORDAN, Andrew Peters JORDAN.  He served in the Military in the War of 1812, joining in Ellsworth, in the Massachusetts Volunteer Militia, Lieutenant Colonel J. Black’s command as a private, with service at Mount Desert, Maine.[4]  He may have been a farmer along with a sea captain as he’s listed with either occupation at one time or another.  Solomon died on 7 May 1849 at the age of 70 of consumption, which he had for 7 days prior to his death.[5]  He was buried at the Jordan Cemetery in Ellsworth.[6]
