Fred Augustus Jellison

Fred Augustus (Bumpy) JELLISON was my first cousin four times removed; we are related through his grandparents Joseph H. and Abigail (JORDAN) JELLISON.  Bumpy was born 15 August 1855 in Ellsworth, Maine the third of five children of George H. and Philena (LANCASTER) JELLISON.  Bumpy was enumerated in the 1870 census with his parents in Waltham, Maine.[1]  Bumpy married Clara Jane JOHNSON 4 December 1875 in Ellsworth, Maine, he and Clara had three children: Fountaine Rodick, Fred Conrad and June, they had at least one grandchild and one great grandchild before his death.  He was enumerated in 1880, with wife Clara and son Fountaine and mother-in-law Hannah Brown (WILBUR) JOHNSON JORDAN.[2]  The 1900 and 1910 censuses he was enumerated in Eden, Maine with, his wife Clara, sons Fountaine (only the 1910) and Fred, along with his mother-in-law Hannah.[3]  In the 1920 and 1930 censuses he was enumerated in Bar Harbor, Maine with his wife, Clara.[4]  In the 1920 census he also had living with him and his wife his son Fred, his wife Eda (DEARBORN) JELLISON, as well as a niece, Nina R. JELLISON.  He was a barber by trade.  In 1924 there is a record of him returning from Cristobal, Canal Zone, Panama on the La Playa, arriving in Boston, he was not traveling with any family members (at least with last name JELLISON), nor any others whom claim as their address, Bar Harbor, Maine.[5]  For his 83rd birthday he had a large party attended by many family and friends.  He died 25 February 1940 in Bar Harbor, Maine.  He is buried in Ledgelawn Cemetery in Bar Harbor, Maine.
