Joseph Vaughan

Joseph VAUGHAN is my eighth great grandfather.  He was born 20 August 1654 in Marshfield, Massachusetts to George and Elizabeth (HENCHMAN) VAUGHAN.[1]  He married Joanna THOMAS 7 May 1680 in Middleborough, Massachusetts.[2]  They had eleven children:  Elisha, Jabez, George, Ebenezer, Elizabeth, Hannah, Joseph, Mary, Josiah and Joanna.  He married second, Mercy (NELSON) FULLER.[3]  Joseph was a selectman for 25 years, and worked as an agent for proprietors, helping out on many land sales.[4]  He was in the local militia going from an ensign, reaching the rank of captain by the time of his death.[5]  He wrote his will 12 March 1732, one year prior to his death 2 Mar 1733/4 in Middleborough.[6]
