Joseph VAUGHAN is my eighth great grandfather. He was born 20 August 1654 in Marshfield, Massachusetts to George and Elizabeth (HENCHMAN) VAUGHAN. He married Joanna THOMAS 7 May 1680 in Middleborough, Massachusetts. They had eleven children: Elisha, Jabez, George, Ebenezer, Elizabeth, Hannah, Joseph, Mary, Josiah and Joanna. He married second, Mercy (NELSON) FULLER. Joseph was a selectman for 25 years, and worked as an agent for proprietors, helping out on many land sales. He was in the local militia going from an ensign, reaching the rank of captain by the time of his death. He wrote his will 12 March 1732, one year prior to his death 2 Mar 1733/4 in Middleborough.
