Edmund Harvey Colby

Edmund Harvey COLBY is my first cousin five times removed; we are related through his grandparents, my fifth great grandparents Solomon I and Christiana (SIMONTON) JORDAN.  Edmund was born to Eli and Sarah Hardison (JORDAN) COLBY 10 September 1833 in Ellsworth, Maine.[1]  He was enumerated with his parents in the 1840, and 1850 censuses taken in Hancock County, Maine.[2]  Edmund married 24 December 1863 to Elvira Jane CUSHMAN.[3]  According to the 1900 census they had one child that was still living at the time, but I find no records with a child in their family.  In 1867 Edmund and Elvira were living in Snaw’s Flat, California, he was working as a rancher.[4]  They were enumerated in Columbia, California in the 1870 and 1880 censuses.[5]  By the time of the 1900 census Edmund and Elvira had returned to Hancock, Maine to live out their lives.[6]  He died 9 October 1909 and is buried in the Riverside Cemetery in Hancock, Maine.[7]
