William B. Jellison

William B. JELLISON is my third great grand uncle; we are related through his parents, Joseph H and Abigail (JORDAN) JELLISON.  He was born 17 April 1815 in Waltham, Maine, the fourth of twelve children.  William married his second cousin Sybil H. JORDAN, related through my sixth great grandparents Nathaniel and Dorothy (HILL) JORDAN, they married 14 September 1837 in Waltham, Maine by Rev. Allen Barrows.  William and Sybil had four children:  Nathan J., Sarah A., Albion S., and Christiana E.  He was appointed postmaster for North Ellsworth, 2 March 1838.[1]  William and his family were enumerated in the 1850 and 1860 censuses taken in Waltham.[2]  William died 27 April 1866 in Ellsworth, Maine, he is buried at Hillside Cemetery in Waltham.

  1. Like your blogs! I am researching William B Jellison’s wife’s family, the children of Increase M Jordan and Emma H Kingman. Am particularly interested in Sybil’s sister Sarah G Jordan who I believe married Jeremiah Shackford. Wondering if you are also researching this line? My research of Jeremiah Shackford is shared in the blog section of http://www.shackfordgenealogy.weebly.com

The only work I’ve done on that line of the family is what is in the book Family Jordan by Adelbert Jean Annonson. Due to the large number of people in my family tree, I’m only highlighting first cousins, aunt/uncles, great aunts/uncles and grandparents/great grandparents. To go to my third cousin four times removed is just a to big a group of people to try to research fully. If you are unaware there is an organization dedicated to the Jordan Family line beginning with Rev. Robert Jordan (1611-1679). The website is The Family Jordan Foundation at: familyjordan.com I belong and have found some good information from their newsletters and other postings. Good luck on your searches.
