Rose Anna STANLEY

Rose Anna STANLEY is my fourth cousin three times removed.  She was enumerated in many different cities throughout her life.  She was counted while living with her parents in the 1860 and 1870 censuses living in Tremont, Hancock, Maine.[1]  She was counted with her husband and at least once child each of the following censuses: 1880 taken in Otis, Hancock, Maine; 1900 taken in Brewer, Penobscot, Maine and 1910 taken in Otis, Hancock, Maine.[2]

Rose Anna STANLEY was born 10 November 1854 in Mount Desert, Hancock, Maine.[3]  She was the daughter of George N. and Susan M. (REED) STANLEY.  She died of cancer of the bowels on 10 April 1912 in Otis, Hancock, Maine or Brewer, Penobscot, Maine.[4]  She was interred at Hilltop Cemetery in Otis, Hancock, Maine.[5]  Rose married Horace T. SALISBURY 6 June 1871 in Otis, Hancock, Maine.[6]  Horace was born 22 January 1851 in Otis, Hancock, Maine.[7]  He was the son of Edward and Eliza E. (SALISBURY) SALISBURY.  He died 15 November 1912 of acute indigestion causing heart trouble in Otis, Hancock, Maine or Eddington, Penobscot, Maine.[8]  He was a laborer and farmer throughout his life.[9]  He was interred at Hilltop Cemetery in Otis, Hancock, Maine.[10]

Rose and Horace had the following children:

  1. Willis Colburn SALISBURY was born 6 December 1872 in Otis, Hancock, Maine.[11] He died 24 September 1932 in Bangor, Penobscot, Maine.[12]  He is interred at Evergreen Cemetery in Otis, Hancock, Maine.[13]  He registered for the draft for World War 1 in Hancock, County.[14]  There are some records saying that he was in the 5th Artillery, but I cannot find any of the actual military records stating the fact.[15]  He married Blanche Olivia JORDAN 24 July 1895 in Mariaville, Hancock, Maine by Jere H. JORDAN, Justice of the Peace, with intentions filed 5 July 1895.[16]  Blanche is my third cousin three times removed and she is Willis’ third cousin.  Blanche was born 27 April 1873 in Osborn, Hancock, Maine.[17]  She was the daughter of Frederick S. and Harriet E. (DAVIS) JORDAN.  She died 17 May 1953 in Otis, Hancock, Me.[18]  She is interred at Evergreen Cemetery in Otis, Hancock, Maine.[19]  They Had twelve children:  Arletta Crosby, stillborn daughter, Irving Lester, Corace A., Persis Helen, Dorothy M. Frederick (Fred) Spofford, Carlton Horace, Horace, Sylvia Edna, Rose Ann, and Lucille Pauline.
  2. Herbert M. SALISBURY was born 1 May 1875 in Maine.[20] He died in 1953.[21]  He is interred at Juniper Cemetery in Ellsworth, Hancock, Maine.  He registered for the World War I draft 12 September 1918 in Ellsworth Falls, Hancock, Maine.[22]  He was a farmer most of his life.[23]  Herbert married Lucy M. MOORE 26 December 1900 in Ellsworth, Hancock, Maine by Rev. John P. SIMONTON with intentions filed 18 December 1900.[24]  Lucy was born in 1877 in Ellsworth, Hancock, Maine.[25]  She was the daughter of Lemuel Smith and Mary A. (SMITH) MOORE.  She died in 1957 in Maine.[26]  She is interred at Juniper Cemetery in Ellsworth, Hancock, Maine.[27]  They had two children:  Beatrice Lee and Charles M.
  3. Susan (Susie) May SALISBURY is rather confused. There were possibly two daughters by this name I have a birth of 4 April 1878 in Hancock County, Maine.[28]  And a birth of January 1883 in Otis, Hancock, Maine.[29]  I have two death dates 1884 in Otis, Hancock, Maine and 22 January 1885 Otis, Hancock, Maine.[30]  The obituary said she was 9 years old at the time of her death in 1885.[31]  I also have two places of internment Evergreen Cemetery in Otis, Hancock, Maine and Hilltop Cemetery in Otis, Hancock, Maine.[32]  She needs to straighten out at some point.
  4. Sylvia Edna SALISBURY was born 3 or 13 October 1881 in Otis, Hancock, Maine.[33] She died 7 May 1954 in Eddington, Penobscot, Maine.  Sylvia married Leslie Landsdale BUNKER 4 March 1903 in Brewer, Penobscot, Maine by Rev. Sarah J. LIBBY

Sarah is my fifth cousin three times removed.  I found a lot written about the family, many memories from her youngest daughter and records galore.  I did find that there was disparages when it came to birth dates for her, her husband and children, I will be using the date that is most widely recorded in records.  Sarah’s family moved many times, I will be only recording the locations of censuses, knowing that within the county of the census the family moved a few times.  If I have dates of a family move I’ll note it.  Sarah was enumerated with her parents and siblings in 1850 taken in Lagrange, Penobscot, Maine.[1]  Sarah and her husband were enumerated with their son George (the only record or his existence outside of a remembrance of a sibling) in 1860 taken in Aroostook County, Maine.[2]  In the 1870 census, the family had a few more children and was living in Lagrange, Penobscot, Maine.[3]  In the 1880 census the family was enumerated in Medford, Piscataquis, Maine.[4]  In the 1895 Minnesota State census the family was enumerated in Minneapolis, Hennepin, Minnesota, living at 2951 James Avenue.[5]  In the 1900 through 1920 census she and her husband were enumerated with one or more children with them or they living with them, taken in Baker, Fallon, Montana.[6]  I cannot find Sarah in the 1930 census, though she was living, presumably with daughter Martha.

Sarah J. LIBBY was born 12 March 1841 in Lagrange, Penobscot, Maine.[7]  She was the daughter of Aaron and Ruth (HAZELTINE) LIBBY.  Sarah died 1 April 1924 in Baker, Fallon, Montana.[8]  She was interred at Bonnievale Cemetery in Baker, Fallon, Montana.  Sarah married Daniel Clark W. HASTY 18 July 1859 in Lagrange, Penobscot, Maine.[9]  Daniel was born 16 March 1834 in Medford, Piscataquis, Maine or Scarborough, Cumberland, Maine.[10]  He was the son of Daniel Clark and Sarah D. (SMITH) HASTY.  He served in the Civil War from 3 December 1861 to 24 April 1862 as a private in Co. E, 15th Maine Infantry, he was discharged before the unit engaged in any action due to disability.[11]  He was a farmer or laborer throughout his life.  He died 21 March 1922 in Fallon County, Montana.[12]  He is interred at Bonnievale Cemetery in Baker, Fallon, Montana.[13]

Sarah and Daniel had many children they are as follows:

  1. George A. HASTY was born 21 April 1860 in Portage Lake, Aroostook, Maine.[14] He died 22 July 1860 in Portage Lake, Aroostook, Maine.[15]
  2.
