Shadrach WATSON

Shadrach and second wife Susanna are my seventh great grandparents.   He bought land in Arundel, York, ME in 1736.[1]  He received land in Kennebunkport in a land grant.[2]  He was a defendant in a trespass case at the York Court of Common Pleas in April 1740.[3]  He was part of the Louisburg Expedition in Captain Thomas Perkin’s Company.[4]  Shadrach had a trading post at Naskeag in Sedgwick, Hancock, ME.[5] He lived in North Yarmouth, Cumberland, ME then Sedgwick, Hancock, ME.[6]

 

Shadrach WATSON was born 3 February 1712/3 in Bradford, Essex, MA to parents John and Ruth (HARTSHORN) WATSON.[7]  It is believed he died in September 1770 in Wells, York, ME.  He married first Elizabeth BARKER.  Elizabeth was born 1712.  He married second Susanna KIMBALL on 16 August 1733 in Wells, York, ME.  Susanna was baptized 4 March 1710.  Her parents were Caleb and Susannah (CLOYES) KIMBALL.

 

Shadrach and Susanna had the following children:

  1. Samuel moved east as an adult.
  2. Molly married Thomas KIMBALL.
  3. Hannah married Joseph AVERILL.
  4. Susanna born about August 1738 in Wells, York, ME. She was baptized 27 August 1738 at the Frist Church of Wells, Wells, York, ME.[8]  She married Samuel COUSINS 10 September 1757 in Arundel, York, ME.[9]  Samuel was born 29 November 1726.
  5. Abigail was born in Wells, York, ME. She was baptized 14 February 1741/2 at First Church of Wells, Wells, York, ME.[10]  She died 19 May 1821 in Sedgwick, Hancock, ME.  Abigail married Josiah BLACK.  Josiah was born 2 Jul 1710 in Boxford, Essex, MA.  He is the son of James and Abigail (JOHNSON) BLACK.
  6. Ruth was born about August 1743 in Wells, York, ME. She was baptized 28 August 1743 at the First Church of Wells, Wells, York, ME.[11]  She died 1801. Ruth married Abner CREDIFORD about 1793 in Arundel, York, ME.
  7. Mercy WATSON was born about 1752 in Wells, York, ME. She died 28 September 1828 in Brooksville, Hancock, ME.  Mercy is interred at Lakeview Cemetery in Brooksville, Hancock, ME.[12]  She married Samuel GRAY about 1766.  He was born 1750.  Samuel is the son of Joshua and Jennat (ELLIOT) GRAY.    He died 28 April 1843 in Brooksville, Hancock, ME.  Samuel is interred at Lakeview Cemetery in Brooksville, Hancock, ME.[13]

Louisa “Lovicey” C. WESCOTT

Louisa was my first cousin five times removed; we are related through her grandparents, my fifth great grandparents, William and Margaret (HANEY) WESCOTT.  She was enumerated in the 1820 and 1830 censuses with her parents in Penobscot, Hancock, ME.[1]  She was enumerated in the 1850, 1860, 1870 and 1880 censuses.

Louisa C. WESCOTT was born 13 February 1815 in Blue Hill, Hancock, ME.[2]   She was the second child of Archibald and Nancy (LIMBURNER) WESCOTT.  She died 13 December 1893 in Blue Hill, Hancock, ME.  Louisa was interred at Seaside Cemetery in Blue Hill, Hancock, ME.[3]  Louisa married Elnathan HINCKLEY 23 August 1838 in Blue Hill, Hancock, ME.  Elnathan was born 25 April 1802 in Blue Hill, Hancock, ME.  He is the son of Ebenezer and Elisabeth (COGGINS) HINCKLEY.  He died 5 December 1869.  Elnathan was interred at Seaside Cemetery in Blue Hill, Hancock, ME.[4]

Louisa and Elnathan had the following children:

  1. Ebenezer Augustus was born 6 May 1838 in Blue Hill, Hancock, ME.[5] He died 15 December 1913.  Ebenezer married Phebe WALKER 16 April 1871 in Blue Hill, Hancock, ME.[6]  She was born 11 March 1849 in Brooksville, Hancock, ME.  She died 25 March 1919.
  2. James Henry was born 28 August 1839 in Blue Hill, Hancock, ME.[7]
  3. Josephine Flint was born 30 November 1842 in Blue Hill, Hancock, ME.[8] She died 18 December 1859.  Josephine was interred at Seaside Cemetery in Blue Hill, Hancock, ME.[9]
  4. Mary Eloise was born 9 April 1846 in Blue Hill, Hancock, ME.[10]
  5. Archibald Wescott was born 4 April 1848 in Blue Hill, Hancock, ME.[11] He died 5 September 1919 in Blue Hill, Hancock, ME.[12]  Archibald was interred in Seaside Cemetery in Blue Hill, Hancock, ME.[13]
  6. Andrew Austin was born 11 April 1852 in Blue Hill, Hancock, ME.[14] He married Frances GRAY 7 November 1874.  She was born 1855.  He died 1919.
  7. Edgar H. was born 5 February 1853 in Blue Hill, Hancock, ME.[15] He died 2 February 1924 in Burbank, Los Angeles, CA.  He was interred at Grand View Memorial Park in Glendale, Los Angeles, CA.[16]  Edgar married Flora Ada MASON 29 April 1880.  She was born 1 October 1859 in Blue Hill, Hancock, ME.  She was the daughter of Pettiah MASON.
  8. Arthur E. was born 29 January 1856 in Blue Hill, Hancock, ME.[17] He died 14 November 1886.  Arthur is interred at Seaside Cemetery in Blue Hill, Hancock, ME.[18]
  9. Anna Dyer was born 24 October 1857 in Blue Hill, Hancock, ME.[19] She died 2 January 1936 in Boise, Ada, ID.  She married twice, first to Harrison Allen TRIPP 15 Jun 1878.  Harrison was born 28 April 1841 in Sedgwick, Hancock, ME.  He died 28 August 1898 in Princeton Junction, NJ.  She married second Samuel Wakefield EASTMAN about 1908.  He was born 8 January 1849 in Lathrop, PA.  He died 8 February 1927 in Boise, Ada, ID.
