Rizpah BRYANT

Rizpah was also known as Rispah, Arispey, Ariffy or Arisba.  This name fascinates me, it is a rare Hebrew name and almost all that have this name are related in some way.  She is my second cousin seven times removed; we are related through Capt. Joseph and Joanna (Thomas) Vaughan.  He filed for a Widow’s Pension in 1843 for her husband Eleazer’s service in the Revolutionary War in 1775, 1778 and 1778.[1]

Rizpah BRYANT was born 6 December 1762 in Halifax, Plymouth, Massachusetts.[2]  She was the daughter of Joseph and Zilpha (SAMPSON) BRYANT.  She was christened in 1767 in Plympton, Plymouth, Massachusetts.[3]  She died 27 June 1846 in Middleborough, Plymouth, Massachusetts.  She is interred at Thomastown Cemetery in Middleborough, Plymouth, Massachusetts.[4]  Rizpah married Eleazer THOMAS 26 April 1781 in Middleborough, Plymouth, Massachusetts by Noah Fearing, justice of the peace.[5]  Eleazer was born 4 March 1755 in Middleborough, Plymouth, Massachusetts.[6]  He was the son of Eleazer and Mary (SHAW) THOMAS.  He died 31 July 1826.[7]  He is interred at Thomastown Cemetery in Middleborough, Plymouth, Massachusetts.[8]
