Joseph Chipman

Joseph is my third cousin seven times removed through two lines:  John and Hope (HOWLAND) CHIPMAN and Henry and Sarah (HINKLEY) COBB.  There was little information on Joseph and his family other than a few books that mention one or more members.  The dates are unknown but he lived in Salisbury, Litchfield, Connecticut; Waterbury, New Haven, Connecticut; Essex, Chittenden, Vermont; and Granville, Licking, Ohio.[1]

Joseph CHIPMAN was born 5 August 1761 in Salisbury, Litchfield, Connecticut.[2]  He was the son of Jonathan and Catherine (REED) CHIPMAN.  He died 25 March 1826 in Granville, Licking, Ohio.[3]  Joseph married Anne “Amy” REED in 1789 in Salisbury, Litchfield, Connecticut.[4]  She was born 18 April 1765 in Salisbury, Litchfield, Connecticut.[5]  She was the daughter of Peter and Thankful Northrup (BEECHER) REED.  She died 31 December 1851 in Allen County, Ohio.  She was interred at Shawnee Cemetery in Fort Shawnee, Allen, Ohio.[6]
