Miriam GARLAND

Miriam GARLAND is my first cousin six times removed; we are related through her grandfather my sixth great grandfather Wyatt MOORE.  Miriam and Abraham were enumerated in the 1800 and 1810 U.S. census taken in Deer Isle, Hancock, ME.[1]  Miriam and Abraham were enumerated in 1820, 1830 and 1840 in Ellsworth, Hancock, ME.[2]  Miriam was enumerated with her daughter Sarah and husband Elisha Garland in 1850 and 1860 in Ellsworth, Hancock, ME.[3]  Judging by the census records in the early years of their marriage I believe there are more children that are not listed on here, as many as eight more.  There are several Freese/Freeze/Frieze and other variations of the name listed in and near to where Miriam and Abraham lived in Ellsworth.  I have yet to find any records connecting them.

Miriam GARLAND was born 1768 in Ellsworth, Hancock, ME to parents Josiah and Miriam (MOORE) GARLAND.  Miriam is the daughter of Josiah and Miriam (MOORE) GARLAND.  She died 13 April 1862 in Ellsworth, Hancock, ME.  She married Abraham FRAZIER after 5 September 1799 in Trenton, Hancock, ME, intention filed 5 September 1799 in Trenton, Hancock, ME.[4]  Abraham was born 25 November 1711 in Deer Isle, Hancock, ME.[5] to George and Sarah (CROMWELL) FREESE. 1. Benjamin was born 1810. He died 1872.  Benjamin married twice, first to Hannah GARLAND about 1832.  Hannah was born 1809 in Ellsworth, Hancock, ME.  She is the daughter of John and Sarah (WORMWOOD) GARLAND.  She is my second cousin, five times removed, and third cousin five times removed, through three lines of ancestry.  Benjamin and Hannah are first, second and third cousins from each other.  Hannah died about 1861 in Ellsworth, Hancock, ME.  Benjamin married next, Louisa C. BUNKER.  She was born 16 March 1818.  Louisa died 28 February. 1898.
  2. Cynthia was born 20 September 1813 in Ellsworth, Hancock, ME. She died 4 August 1903 in Ellsworth, Hancock, ME.[6]
  3. Sarah C. was born September 1815. She died 13 February 1910.  Sarah married Elisha GARLAND 19 May 1842.  Elisha was born 13 July 1818 in Ellsworth, Hancock, ME.  He is the son of Eli Wormwood and Mary (BARKS) GARLAND.  Sarah and Elisha are first, second and third cousins.  Elisha is my third cousin four times removed through two lines of ancestry and fourth cousin four times removed through another.  Elisha died 13 September 1885 in Ellsworth, Hancock, ME.
  4. Hannah A. was born 7 April 1815 in Deer Isle, Hancock, ME. She died 7 August 1907 in Ellsworth, Hancock, ME.[7]  She was interred at Higgins Cemetery in West Ellsworth, Hancock, ME.[8]  Hannah married twice; first she married John GARLAND about 1832.  John was born 1807 in Ellsworth, Hancock, ME.  He is my second cousin, five times removed and third cousin five times removed through three lines of ancestry.  Hannah and John are first, second and third cousins from each other.  John died 17 January 1840 in Otis, Hancock, ME.  Hannah married second Jesse Higgins on 27 September 1846.  He was born 4 September 1811.  He is the son of Charles M. and Nancy (BARTLETT) HIGGINS.  He died 9 April 1875.  Jesse was interred at Higgins Cemetery in Ellsworth, Hancock, ME.[9]
