  • James WEARE was born 12 November 1766 in Granville, Annapolis, Nova Scotia[3]; son of Elias and Ruth (BANKS) WEARE; husband of Rachel GRAVES.
  • Moses BANKS was born 12 November 1770 in Granville, Annapolis, Nova Scotia[4]; son of Moses and Jane (SPINNEY) BANKS; husband of Olive MORTON.

Hannah Smith JORDAN

Hannah is my first cousin five times removed; we are related through her grandparents, my fifth great grandparents, Solomon I. and Christiana (SIMONTON) JORDAN.  She is the oldest child of Walter Simonton and Nancy G. (GRAVES) JORDAN.  She and her husband were enumerated in the 1850, 1860 and 1870 U.S. censuses in Ellsworth, Hancock, ME.[1]

Hannah Smith JORDAN was born 11 October 1813.  She died 13 Jan 1871.[2]  Her body is interred in Ellsworth, Hancock, ME.  Hannah married Captain Curtis CLARK 5 January 1837 by Rev. Benjamin LORD, in Ellsworth, Hancock, ME.[3]  Curtis was born 14 November 1808 in Harpswell, Cumberland, ME.[4]  He was the son of James and Asenath (CURTIS) CLARK.  He died of old age on 4 January 1894 in Ellsworth, Hancock, ME.[5]  He interred at Jordan Cemetery, Ellsworth, Hancock, ME.

Hannah and Curtis had the following children:

  1. Sarah A. born 15 October 1837. She died 21 May 1866 in Ellsworth, Hancock, ME.[6]  Sarah married Captain Leonard H. HIGGINS 29 Jul 1862 in Ellsworth, Hancock, ME they were married by Rev. N. M. Williams.[7]  Leonard was born in 1834.  He died 21 March 1863 in Ellsworth, Hancock, ME.
  2. Curtis, Jr. was born 2 February 1840 in Ellsworth, Hancock, ME.[8] He died of acute meningitis on 13 April 1918 in Surry, Hancock, ME.[9]  He married Algetta “Lettie” SMITH 29 April 1872 in Surry, Hancock, ME by Rev. L. S. Tripp.[10]  She was born about 1842.
  3. Hamilton was born 15 September 1842.[11]
  4. Osmond was born 15 August 1844.[12] He married Lizzie A. YOUNG 20 November 1885 in Ellsworth, Hancock, ME by Rev. F. H. Osgood.[13]
  5. Walter Jordan was born 21 September 1847.[14] Walter married Margaret HAMMONDS 18 December 1868 in Ellsworth, Hancock, ME the ceremony was performed by Rev. F. T. Hazelwood.[15]
  6. Elenora was born 5 March 1849.[16] She died before 19 July 1850.
  7. Emory was born 28 March 1851.[17] She died 4 November 1859 in Ellsworth, Hancock, ME.[18]
  8. John L. was born 25 August 1853.[19]
  9. Byron was born 22 November 1855.[20]

Walter Simonton Jordan

Walter Simonton JORDAN is my fourth great grand uncle; we are related through his parents Solomon I. and Christiana (SIMONTON) JORDAN.  Walter was born 6 December 1768[1] in Cape Elizabeth, Maine, the oldest of eleven children.  Walter married first Hannah SMITH, 8 August 1793 in Trenton, Maine by John URGUHART.[2]  He and Hannah had the following five children: Walter, Asa, Joseph, Christiana and Mercy. He married second Nancy G. GRAVES, March 1813.  He and Nancy had the following six children: Hannah, Nancy G., Adaline, Edward Luther G., John Luther G. and Sarah S.  He died 23 May 1847, leaving a will dated 12 December 1846[3] and was probated 1 September 1847.[4]  He is buried in Woodbine Cemetery in Ellsworth, Maine.
