Arthur Beale

Arthur BEALE is my ninth great grandfather.  Arthur was born before 5 October 1638 in possibly Ipswich, Massachusetts to at this time unknown parents.  Arthur married Agnes HILTON by 1667.[1]  Arthur and Agnes had seven children:  Mary, William, Anne, Sarah, Nicholas, Edward and Elizabeth.  Arthur served on a jury 24 Feb 1690 in York County Court of Common Pleas.[2]  In 1693, 1694, 1695, and 1696 he was brought to court for some minor cases.[3]  Arthur received one year licenses in 1697 and 1698 for the right to run a ferry and a right to sell strong liquor.[4]  Arthur wrote his will about 1699 and died 2 October 1711 in York, Maine.  Over the years he worked as a fisherman, ferryman, tavern keeper and retailer.[5]

The York County court records, deeds and other official documents for this time period are very plentiful, if time is taken, I’m sure I could trace more of his life.
