Rufus King Libby

Rufus King LIBBY is my second cousin five times removed; we are related through his great grandparents Nathaniel and Dorothy (HILL) JORDAN.  He is the son of Matthew and Hannah (HASTY) LIBBY.  He was born 30 September 1788 in Scarborough, Maine.  He married first, Roxanna JONES, 17 November 1812 in Maine.  They had seven children:  Ruth J., Elizabeth Jane, Rufus Jr., Phineas J., Elbridge G., Samuel G., and Charles Ezra.  Rufus and family were enumerated in the 1840 census in Webster, Maine.[1]  Rufus married second Elizabeth (Betsey) JONES 15 June 1843 in Webster.[2]  Rufus and family were enumerated in the 1850 and 1860 censuses taken in Webster.[3]  Rufus worked as a farmer his entire life.  He died 7 May 1867 in Maine, and is buried in Golder Cemetery in Sabattus, Maine.[4]

Flora Jane Wilbur

Flora Jane WILBUR is my first cousin four times removed, we are related through her grandparents my fourth great grandparents David Ross and Olive (MOORE) HOPKINS.  Flora is the tenth of eleven children born to Lyman Moses and Emily (HOPKINS) WILBUR.    Flora was born 29 September 1848 in Eastbrook, Maine.  Flora was enumerated with her family in Eastbrook in the 1850 and 1860 censuses.[1]  Flora married John Douglas PERKINS 4 November 1866, intentions filed 1 November 1866, in Portland, Maine.[2]  Flora and John had six children:  Frank H., Elbridge W., Melvin Johnson, Elizabeth (Lizzie) Theodora, Edith N., and Emily Miriam.    Flora was enumerated with her family 1880, 1900, 1910, 1920 and 1930 in Eastbrook and Franklin, Maine.[3]  Flora died 5 April 1930 in Maine.

 

John Douglas PERKINS is related to me in four different ways:

  • Third cousin four times removed through Captain William WESCOTT and Elizabeth PERKINS
  • Fourth cousin five times removed through Jacob PERKINS
  • Fourth cousin four times removed through John PERKINS and Elizabeth PIERCE
  • Seventh cousin three times removed through John ALCOCK and Elizabeth BIRCHARD

Esther Hopkins

Esther HOPKINS is my fourth great aunt; we are related through her parents, my fifth great grandparents Solomon and Esther (PLUMMER) HOPKINS.  Esther is the fourteenth of sixteen children; she was born 28 September 1806 in Jefferson, Maine.[1]  Esther died 19 December 1824 in Jefferson, Maine, at the age of 18.[2]

Hannah Perkins

Hannah PERKINS is my sixth great grand aunt; we are related through her parents, my seventh great grandparents John and Elizabeth (PIERCE) PERKINS.  Hannah is the third of eleven children of John and Elizabeth; she was born before 27 September 1741 in York, Maine and baptized 27 September 1741 at the First Church of Wells, Maine.[1]  She married first Richard CHICK 17 Aug 1763 in Wells, Maine.[2]  She married second Abraham LITTLEFIELD 21 December 1769, intention filed 11 November 1769, and they had six children: John, Josias, Abraham, Elizabeth, Stover and Nancy.[3]  She died 27 January 1821 in South Penobscot, Maine.[4]

Abner Jordan

JORDAN, Abner

 

Abner JORDAN is my first cousin six times removed and second cousin seven times removed, we are related through his grandparents, my sixth great grandparents, Nathaniel and Dorothy (HILL) JORDAN and my seventh great grandparents Roger and Mary (CROSS) HILL.  Abner is the third of five children born to Nathaniel and Susanna (HILL) JORDAN.  Abner was born 10 August 1760 in Cape Elizabeth, Maine.  He joined the Penobscot Expedition 7 July 1779.[1]  He married Hannah WENTWORTH 21 May 1786, in Cape Elizabeth; the marriage was performed by Ephraim Clark, intentions filed 15 April 1786.[2]  Abner and Hannah had nine children:  Captain Nathan Bartlett, John Wentworth, Hannah, Abner, Nathaniel, Timothy, Sarah Bartlett, Benning Wentworth, and Lydia H.  Abner and Hannah had over fifty grandchildren!  He applied for a land grant (undated) while living in Danville, Maine.[3]  Abner died 26 September 1819 in Lisbon, Maine, buried in Davis Cemetery, Lisbon.[4]

Abner Jordan and Nathaniel Jordan are the ancestor(s) who assisted in establishing American Independence, while acting in the capacity of Abner Jordan (private), Nathaniel Jordan (major and lieutenant colonel). Abner Jordan served as Private, in Captain Alexander McClellan’s Company, Colonel Jonathan Mitchell’s Regiment from July 7th to Sept. 25th 1779, on the Penobscot Expedition.
