Zebadiah BANKS

Zebadiah BANKS is my third cousin 7, 8 and 10 times removed through John and Elizabeth (BIRCHARD) ALCOCK and William and Frances (HAYWARD) HILTON.  There are records stating he was abducted by Indians and ransomed for £112, there is no proof that the Zebadiah mentioned is this man.  He lived his entire life in York, York, Maine.[1]

Zebadiah BANKS was born 7 May 1730 in York, York, Maine.[2] He was the son of Lieutenant Moses and Ruth (WEARE) BANKS.  He died after 1775 I speculate in York, York, Maine.  Zebadiah married Abigail MUCHMORE/MUTCHMORE 16 January 1753 in Lyman, York, Maine by Reverend Isaac LYMAN; intentions filed 28 October 1752.[3]  She died about 1813 in I speculate York, York, Maine.

Zebadiah and Abigail had the following children:

  1. Zebadiah BANKS born 1754 in York, York, Maine.[4] He died about 1780.  He served under William COFFIN in the Revolutionary War, while serving he was  a privateer on the ship “America”.[5]
  2. Zebulon BANKS born 1755 in York, York, Maine. He was christened 5 September 1756.[6]  There is no more information that can be found at this time.
  3. Pelatiah BANKS born 27 April 1756 in York, York, Maine. He died 23 February 1810 in York, York, Maine.  He was a private in the Revolutionary War.  Pelatiah married Sarah AVERY 27 April 1775 in York, York, Maine, intentions filed 5 April 1775.[7]  Sarah was born 15 January 1754 in York, York, Maine.[8]  She was the daughter of David and Elizabeth (ALLEN) AVERY.  She died 29 December 1830 in York, York, Maine.  They had 3 children.
