Hosea R. DALE

Hosea is my third cousin four times removed through Nathaniel and Dorothy (HILL) JORDAN; sixth cousin seven times removed through John and Elizabeth (BIRCHARD) ALCOCK; and sixth cousin three times removed through Reverend Robert and Sarah (WINTER) JORDAN.  He lived in Maine and Massachusetts; while living in Lowell, Middlesex, Massachusetts the family lived at 11 Andover Street; and while living Waltham, Middlesex, Massachusetts he lived at 27 Ash Street.[1]  He was enumerated in the 1850 census with his parents at Gardiner, Kennebec, Maine.[2]  He, his wife and children were enumerated in the 1860 and 1870 censuses in Portland, Cumberland, Maine.[3]  In the 1800 census he and family were living in Lowell, Middlesex, Massachusetts.[4]  In the 1900 census he was living in Waltham, Middlesex, Massachusetts[5].  His occupations ranged from shipwright, to carpenter, to house carpenter, to joiner, then back to carpenter[6].  He fought in the Civil War as a private in Battalion, Maine Infantry, Company D.[7]

Hosea R. DALE was born 29 January 1832 in Richmond, Sagadahoc, Maine.[8]  He was the son of Israel R. and Bethiah (JORDAN) DALE.  He died of organic heart disease on 28 March 1909 in Waltham, Middlesex, Massachusetts.[9]  He is interred at Mount Feake Cemetery in Waltham, Middlesex, Massachusetts[10].  Hosea married three times; he married first to Harriet M. WYMAN 2 December 1853 in Townsend, Middlesex, Massachusetts by Reverend L. H. SHELDON.[11]  Harriet was born 1836 in Massachusetts.  She was the daughter of Luther and Harriet WYMAN.  She died before 1861.  Hosea married second to Margaret S. LEADLEY 16 June 1861 in Portland, Cumberland, Maine by Reverend H. B. ABBOT.[12]  Margaret was born April 1842 in Windsor, Hants, Nova Scotia, Canada.[13]  She died of consumption 3 July 1872 in Newton, Middlesex, Massachusetts.[14]  Hosea married third to Mary Ellen ADAMS as her second husband 22 September 1872 in Waltham, Middlesex, Massachusetts.[15]  Mary was born August 1836 in Granville, Hampden, Massachusetts.[16]  She was the daughter of Stephen W. and Parmelia (STEARNS) ADAMS.  She died 23 October 1905 of valvular disease of the heart at 27 Ash Street in Waltham, Middlesex, Massachusetts.[17]  She is interred at Mount Feake Cemetery in Waltham, Middlesex, Massachusetts.[18]

Hosea and Harried had 1 child:

  1. William Henry DALE born 22 March 1855 in Portland, Cumberland, Maine.[19] He died between 1928 and 1930.  He was a lather and lived in Waltham, Middlesex, Massachusetts most of his adult life.[20]  He married twice; first to Mary Ellen CHURCH as her second husband on 19 September 1876 in Lowell, Middlesex, Massachusetts by Reverend Peter KNUDDEN.[21]  Mary was born 29 March 1852 in Dedham, Norfolk, Massachusetts[22].  She was the daughter of Thomas and Ellen (POWERS) CHURCH.  She died 28 January 1900 in Lowell, Middlesex, Massachusetts.  They had four children.  He married second to Delia J. MAHAN 31 July 1901 in Waltham, Middlesex, Massachusetts by Reverent J. F. LARGTON.[23]  Delia was born 1861 in Ireland.  She was the daughter of John and Mary (KELLY) MAHAN.  She died after 1930.  They had 1 child.

Hosea and Margaret had 4 children:

  1. Henrietta Maria “Hattie” DALE born 13 March 1862 in Portland, Cumberland, Maine.[24] She married Albert WAUGH 12 June 1880 in Lowell, Middlesex, Massachusetts by Reverend O. E. MALLORY.[25]  Albert was born in 1850.  He was the son of Archibald and Sarah Elizabeth (MCDONALD) WAUGH.
  2. Georgiana DALE was born 20 June 1863 in Portland, Cumberland, Maine.[26] She died 16 February 1941 in Newton, Middlesex, Massachusetts.  She is interred at Newton Cemetery in Newton, Middlesex, Massachusetts.[27]  Georgiana married Robert Wilson BLUE 20 October 1882 in Waltham, Middlesex, Massachusetts by Reverend I. H. PACKARD.[28]  Robert was born 21 October 1863 in Boston, Suffolk, Massachusetts.[29]  He was the son of Robert Wilson and Agnes (MCDOUGALL) BLUE.  He died 21 December 1928.  He is interred at Newton Cemetery in Newton, Middlesex, Massachusetts[30].  They had 8 children.
  3. John Franklin “Frank” DALE was born 13 August 1865 in Portland, Cumberland, Maine.[31]
  4. Joseph Warren DALE was born 6 December 1868 in Portland, Cumberland, Maine.[32] He died 16 October 1869 in Portland, Cumberland, Maine.[33]

Hosea and Mary had the following children:

  1. George H. DALE born 24 December 1874 in Lowell, Middlesex, Massachusetts.[34] He died of infant cholera on 1 September 1875 in Lowell, Middlesex, Massachusetts.[35]
  2. Maude Adelaide DALE was born 30 November 1876 in Lowell, Middlesex, Massachusetts. [36] She died of phthisis pulmonalis also known as consumption or TB on 2 December 1897 in Waltham, Middlesex, Massachusetts.[37] She is interred at Mount Feake Cemetery in Waltham, Middlesex, Massachusetts.[38]
  3. Blanche Adams DALE was born 30 May 1881 Lowell, Middlesex, Massachusetts.[39] She died 12 November 1929 in Waltham, Middlesex, Massachusetts.[40]  She is interred at Mount Feake Cemetery in Waltham, Middlesex, Massachusetts.[41]  Blanche married Johannes Ritz “John” CLAUSEN 3 February 1912 in Waltham, Middlesex, Massachusetts by Reverend Gustaf WIMAN.[42]  Johannes was born 21 October 1887 in Norway.[43]  He was the son of Nils Christian and Kristiane Frederikke (PETTERSON) CLAUSEN.  They had 4 children.
